2.25MHz, dual output, step-down switching regulators with 150°C maximum junction temperature
EDN Europe, 20 Jan 2012
Linear Technology has announced the H-grade version of the LT3692A series of monolithic, dual output step-down switching regulators that deliver up to 3.5A of continuous output current from each channel. They operate from a VIN range of 3 to 36V with transient protection to 60V, making them suitable for load dump and cold-crank conditions found in automotive applications. Independent input, shutdown, feedback, soft-start, current limit and comparator pins for each channel simplify power supply tracking and sequencing requirements, says the company. The regulators’ switching frequency is user-programmable from 250kHz to 2.25MHz, avoiding critical noise-sensitive frequency bands, claims the company. The regulators operate between -40 and 150°C junction temperature. They are suitable for automotive and industrial applications, which are subject to high ambient temperatures. They feature program or pin-strap six output ranges such as 0 to 5V, 0 to 10V, -2.5 to 7.5V, ±2.5V, ±5V, and ±10V. They also feature a die temperature monitor, synchronised clock output, anti-phase switching, and good output voltage tracking. The LT3692AHUH is available in a 32-lead, 5x5mm QFN package. The LT3692AHFE is housed in a 38pin exposed pad thin SSOP package and is FMEA compliant.
