280W dual power supply with enhanced precision

EDN Europe, 16 Nov 2009

TTi has upgraded its EX354D bench power supply to improve its precision. The new model, the EX354RD, has 4digit meters for both voltage and current along with switchable remote sense terminals. The power supply has two independent and isolated outputs of 0-35V at 0-4A. Separate meters are provided for voltage and current on each output, providing resolutions of 10mV and 1mA, respectively. The outputs can be wired in series or parallel to give a maximum voltage of 70V or a maximum current of 8A. Local or remote sensing can be selected by front-panel switches. The power supply uses mixed-mode regulation incorporating linear final regulation to give low output noise and good transient response. The outputs can operate in constant-voltage or constant-current mode with automatic crossover. The new power supply incorporates the new TTi safety binding post terminals. These will accept 4mm fixed shroud plugs and can also accept fork connectors or bare wires, giving maximum flexibility. The power supply is silent in operation because it uses convection cooling throughout. It measures 260x160x320mm and weighs 4.3kg.
