Rohde and Schwarz’ FSV mid-range signal analyser has an analysis bandwidth of 40 MHz, enabling it to cover a wide range of wireless standards from 3GPP LTE up to WLAN 802.11n. Offering 1,000 sweeps/sec in remote-control mode, the instrument is up to five times faster than other signal analysers in its class, the company claims. The FSV’s total measurement uncertainty is 0.3 dB up to 3.6 GHz and 0.4 dB up to 7 GHz. The base unit provides a complete set of functions such as the measurement of channel power and adjacent channel power or spectrum emission mask, as well as a selection of filters and detectors. You can install options for analysing GSM/EDGE, GPP WCDMA, 3GPP LTE, WiMAX and WLAN; there is also an analogue measurement demodulator and the capability to directly operate a power meter from the maker’s NRP family. Operation is by touch screen, with an on-screen keyboard and an expanded control panel. This makes an external mouse and keyboard unnecessary, saving space and making operation easier in cramped spaces. Context-sensitive help, UNDO/REDO and AUTO SET are included. The unit comes in two models: one with a frequency range of 9 kHz to 3.6 GHz and the other with a range up to 7 GHz.
