Guidelines for Meeting IEC 60730 Class B Requirements with FM3 MCUs

May 02, 2011 // By Fujitsu Semiconductor
Fujitsu ARM Cortex—FM3 family microcontrollers (MCUs) offer a variety of integrated functional safety features that suit home appliances, white goods and other motor-control applications. Fujitsu also provides an extensive library of safety-related software routines to make these features easier to use. This application note introduces some important aspects of the IEC 60730 standards and describes how to take advantage of Fujitsu FM3 microcontrollers and code libraries to comply with the standards. The main focus of this paper is the library of self-test routines available for FM3 microcontrollers.
