Texas Instruments: DLP Pico System Design: Brightness Requirements and Tradeoffs

April 28, 2016 // By Jesse Richuso

The brightness capability of a DLP Pico projection system is dependent on tradeoffs that system designers can weigh based on their product requirements, including power consumption and size. It is important to remember that the brightness requirement of a projector is highly dependent on the ambient light level in the target environment, desired screen size, and the image content (video verses graphics). Taken together, these insights can help determine the optimal DLP Pico projector design for a given product. This application note will help product developers who are new to DLP Pico technology understand brightness and the related system tradeoffs.
