AT cut quartz crystal with thermistor for use in specific GPS and cellular communications

EDN Europe, 12 Jan 2012

Rakon has introduced the RXT2520AT a 2.5x2mm AT cut quartz crystal with a thermistor for temperature sensing in a single ceramic package. The crystal with the thermistor is suitable for use in specific GPS and cellular communications. The combination of the company’s GPS grade crystal manufacturing technology, coupled with the company’s ability to perform high resolution frequency versus temperature testing in mass production delivers good performance, claims the company. The crystal package is designed to achieve the required thermal coupling between the thermistor and the quartz crystal, says the company. It is available in frequencies from 19.2 to 52MHz and operates in temperature ranges of -30 to 85°C and -40 to 105°C. The crystal has been designed into chipsets for wireless devices such as smart phones and tablet PCs, as well as automotive and communication applications.
