Avago Technologies has introduced a broadband TWA (travelling wave amplifier) for high-speed digital communications applications that operate in the 30KHz to 80GHz frequency band. The AMMC-5025 amplifier provides 8dB of small signal gain and improved gain flatness of ±0.7dB along with better than 10dB input and output return loss to provide high performance, which is suitable for use in test and measurement equipment, radar warning receivers, wideband communications and surveillance systems, and point-to-point radios. The amplifier has a gain slope control feature and an adjustable gain control feature that allows over 25dB of dynamic range. The improved performance features of this TWA makes it suitable for use in instrumentation and MMIC applications. With a miniature die size of 1.6×1.0mm, the amplifier integrates easily into a range of RF/Micromodules and subsystems. The features of the amplifier include: 50Ohm match on input and output; ESD protection, 70V MM and 300V HBM; and input/output return loss of -10dB/-15dB.
