Future Technology Devices International has strengthened its Arduino-inspired Vinco platform by introducing the VNCLO-START1 kit. The development kit is based on the company’s Vinculum-II dual channel USB host and device controller. The company claims that the kit enables engineers to develop next generation embedded systems. The development kit is made up of a Vinco motherboard and a VNC2 debug and programming module. It also has the VNCLO-SHLD-1A prototyping board, which is accompanied by a set of interconnect, optoelectronic and passive components with which engineers can create their own I/O application boards. The development kit is supported by a set of free to download libraries that include USB host and device drivers and a software development tool chain for generating firmware. The motherboard integrates a 10bit ADC and simplifies connection to sensors, actuators and other analogue devices. It supports 38 general-purpose input and output connections. The controller chip at the heart of the board integrates a 16 and 32bit microcontroller core, 16kbyte of RAM and 256kbyte of flash memory.
