Fanless DAQ module

EDN Europe, 01 Feb 2008

Sundance Multiprocessor Technology’s SMT-370-I is an industrial version of the company’s SMT370 integrated analogue interface for digitalsignal- processing applications. In addition to the installation of industrialrated components, in place of the heat-sink-and-fan arrangement of the standard version there is a custom-made heat sink that doubles as a Faraday cage, protecting the analogue signals from noise. With no air flow, the system operates up to an ambient temperature of 40°C. The unit comprises a pair of 14-bit ADCs clocked at 105 MHz and a pair of 16-bit DACs clocked up to 400 MHz with interpolation, integrated with a Xilinx Virtex-II FPGA. You can use the interface with others from the company’s range of DSP, FPGA, storage and radio modules to create full digital processing systems from COTS parts. Using the Diamond (Eclipse-based) tools from 3L allows you to build arrays of modules, the software constructing communications automatically behind a GUI. The SMT-370-I costs $6245 (10).
