Microcontroller based TFT design solutions
EDN Europe, 12 Oct 2009MSC-Gleichmann’s Embedded Display Solution Group aims at saving time and money for developers of TFT display applications with the help of reference and development boards. The Embedded Display Solution Group’s product, VisuRDK H8SX design kit, is based on Renesas’ H8SX/1668R microcontroller, with an evaluation board, a 3.5inch touch panel TFT LCD, E10A-USB JTAG debugger/emulator, extensive example software, circuit diagram and Gerber data. A complete software stack for peripheral components such as USB, CAN or Ethernet is also available. These displays are used in new applications and are an alternative to dot-matrix displays or monochrome STN displays. Evaluation boards from Atmel, Samsung and NEC Electronics are also being investigated for their suitability for special TFT reference designs.
