12W DC-DC converter offers 4:1 wide input range and tight line regulation

Murata's NCS12 series of compact, encapsulated, metal-cased 12W DC-DC converters accommodates a 4:1 wide input voltage range; the single and dual output isolated converters are available in 9 – 36 VDC or 18 – 75 VDC input voltage models.

Single output models cater for the popular nominal output voltages from 3.3 to 15 VDC. Duals are available with either ± 5, ± 12 or ± 15 VDC outputs. An undervoltage lockout feature ensures that the converter only operates with a valid input voltage. Load regulation is typically within the range of 0.05 to 1% and is model dependent. Line regulation is typically 0.1% and the converter has a fast start-up time of 9 msec.

Other protection and safety features of the NCS12 include current fold back in overload conditions and thermal shutdown should the case temperature exceed 120C. The normal operating temperature range is from -40 to +85C. The NCS12 converter measures 20 x 32 x 10.75 mm and uses an industry standard pin-out that is also compatible with earlier DC/DC converter devices available from Murata Power Solutions. Certification to the industry safety standard IEC/UL60950 for commercial and IT equipment, is pending.
