600 mA step-down DC-DC maintains full-range efficiency

Designed for mobile, wearable and other battery-powered applications, the AP3405 DC-DC buck converter delivers high efficiency under light and heavy loads. Operating with a fixed switching frequency of 2MHz reduces the size of external components while a small U-DFN2020-8 package also saves board area.

The AP3405 current mode, PWM synchronous, step-down converter operates with a 2.3V to 5.5V V IN range and supplies an output from 0.7V to 5.5V, accurate to ±1.5%, up to 600 mA. 32 µA quiescent current draw helps extend battery life and internal MOSFETs with low R DS(ON) enable high efficiency under all load conditions.

Protection features take care of both the end system and the device itself. These include hiccup mode short-circuit protection (SCP), under-voltage lock-out (UVLO), over-temperature protection (OTP) and over-current protection (OCP). The AP3405 in the U-DFN2020-8 package is priced at $0.33 (1000).
