Capacitive sensor signal conditioning IC can interface up to 4 capacitances

November 12, 2012 // By Julien Happich
The ESS112 unveiled by European Sensors Systems is a full custom mixed-signal capacitive sensor signal conditioning IC aimed at all kinds of capacitive sensors.

The chip features a fully differential architecture interfacing up to four capacitances and offers a high resolution up to 19ENOB at low output data rates. The 1.56x1.64mm IC comes with digital SPI, I2C and PWM outputs, differential and single-ended analog outputs, and offers several low power modes of operation. The chip integrates an internal oscillator and a non-volatile OTP memory for the programmable output data rate. As well as a temperature sensor, the chip integrates digital calibration and temperature compensation logic. Alarm functions complete this signal conditioning IC.
