Chip thermistors tolerate harsh environments – in distribution

Amphenol NTC Type CR-1 chip thermistors have an advanced high-performance coating for harsh environment protection, that protects devices against moisture, high temperatures and chemicals; they suit aerospace, marine, military and industrial applications and are available from distributor TTI, Inc.

The devices incorporate high performance NK chip thermistors on tin-coated Alloy 52 leads with a high performance acid and moisture resistant coating. The coating offers a combination of properties that can be used in applications where moisture, high temperatures or chemicals can damage other thermistor coatings.

 

The Thermometrics CR1 coating was originally developed for the automotive industry for harsh environment applications such as exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems, air intake manifold (AIM) sensors and temperature and manifold absolute pressure (TMAP) sensors. NTC type CR-1 chip thermistors operate from -40 to +190˚C with stability and thermal shock resistance. They have a small body diameter and weigh 0.18g. Insulation resistance is to 1 kV DC and they are designed for accurate temperature measurement, control and compensation. Applications include automotive, aerospace, marine, military, process control, industrial, white goods and healthcare.
