Creating power-good for isolated USB applications: an optocoupler suffices

August 05, 2013 // By Steve Daly, Analog Devices
Many if not most modern microprocessors have built in USB controller ports. Some processors provide D+/D- but have extra discrete pins for pull-up control and cable power detect (Power Good). These intermediate implementations have more flexibility, but also demand more of an isolation interface.
