A design data management approach for the SoC era

June 21, 2012 // By Simon Butler
European IC design teams are often part of a widespread network trying to work toward a common goal of a finished SoC design, but today's IT infrastructure is not keeping up with the demands of modern, global projects.

With colleagues, partners and suppliers strewn around the world, the assembly and integration of SoCs is becoming increasingly difficult to manage. Disparate sources of IP, complex integration requirements and large data sets all add up to a new kind of bottleneck in design environments. Existing data management systems are too often retrofitted from the software world and lack the specific capabilities or nuances required to manage a modern SoC project.
