Extended temperature range photocoupler

An ultra-miniature S06-outline device with Darlington transistor output, suitable for industrial controllers and home appliances provides high breakdown voltage and current amplification

Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced a photocoupler/optocoupler for use with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), I/O interface boards and home appliances. With a current transfer ratio of 1000% (min) and a minimum rated isolation voltage of 3750 Vrms the TLP187 is suitable for programmable controllers that use 100 VDC output modules.

The TLP187 combines a long-life gallium aluminium arsenide (GaAlAs) infrared light-emitting diode (LED) optically coupled to a Darlington transistor to provide high noise immunity and high insulation. The device can be operated over a wide temperature range of -55°C to 110°C.

Housed in an S06 package, TLP187 has minimum creepage distance and clearance distance of 5 mm, the internal isolation thickness is over 0.4 mm and the maximum package height is 2.3 mm. The TLP187 has a collector current (DC)IC of 150 mA and high collector-emitter breakdown voltage of 300V(BR)CEO.
