Fluid-flow simulation software equalises power-resistor cooling flows

This image is the output from the Ansys multiphysics package, used by Cressall Power Resistors to design a cooling scheme.

The problem was to ensure even coolant flow to a bank of power-dissipating resistors (of the type pictured below), that are liquid-cooled, in a medium-voltage industrial application. Cressall’s designers applied the Ansys package and you can read the details of how they modelled the cooling systems here.
