Patrick Durand, Future Lighting Solutions Worldwide Technical Director, said that the growing number of solutions makes it necessary to facilitate the selection of LED drivers in a simple and more dynamic way as it is the case with Online tools.
According to the company, the tool is more sophisticated than a simple filtering tool. It takes into account parameters such as potential LED failures, and the impact of dimming and temperature on the LEDs' forward voltage to generate the drivers that best suit the application.
If the user input criteria doesn't return any drivers, the Driver Selector Tool has an intelligent algorithm by which a wizard will suggest some modifications to the input criteria that will return some drivers. There will be tradeoff decisions between the input criteria and the returned drivers.
“By leveraging the various input fields, users can dramatically reduce the number of iterative scenarios they need to run to make clear design tradeoff decisions, thus facilitating validation and justification of these decisions to further decrease time to market”, Durand said.
