High density power/signal ribbons, in distribution

Distributor TTI now has Molex' Picoflex ribbon connectors, that it presents as space-saving in high-vibration and shock environments. In automotive, industrial and consumer applications these interconnects provide a reliable solution when flat ribbon connectors are unsuitable.

Tested to meet the requirements of high-vibration and shock environments, Picoflex connectors have a space-saving, robust package for wire-to-board applications that also mates with industry-standard 1.27mm pitch ribbon cable. They are available in 4 to 26 circuits. Molex has now expanded the Picoflex family to include reverse-footprint SMT headers, with and without latches, which provide a cost-effective alternative second-source system with no necessity for expensive board re-design.

the connectors save space as they have a mated height of 6.40 mm in vertical mating configurations, 15% less than traditional 1.27mm connector systems. The single piece upper housing also provides cable retention in space-constrained applications. A four-point interface with the cable presetns two points of contact between the header and the receptacle. The Molex Picoflex connector range also offers excellent polarisation to both the PCB and between the female connector and header.
