High energy thick film resistors: power density and non-inductive

From distributor TTI, the Ohmite TP Series is the first in a range with compact design, saving PCB space; these thick-film resistors also provide the impulse energy capability normally associated with wire wound or composition resistors.

Double-sided screen printing of pulse-tolerant thick film ink on an alumina substrate and an advanced scan-cut laser trimming process maximises the energy withstanding capabilities of this new series. The first parts to be released are known as the TP810 (10W) resistors, offered in eight off-the-shelf resistance values ranging from 10 Ω to 1 M Ω at 5% tolerance. They are available in radial leaded and SMD packaging and are easy to install and PC mountable. Further features include high-temperature terminal construction (solder plated phosphor bronze), high power density and low inductance of 50 nH – 100 nH. Thermal conductivity is 20 W/m/degC. Maximum operating voltage is 350 VAC, 500 VDC through glass and 1000 VAC, 1500 VDC through substrate. The TP Series is fully RoHS compliant.
