High performance NFC/HF reader has 0.7W output

ams has posted details of the AS3909, a high performance near-field-communications (NFC) reader for the high frequency (HF) band, designed to meet the needs of challenging applications. Unique features include high output power of 700mW and transparent mode to implement other standard and custom protocols.

Features of the device include; up to 700mW of output power so that no external booster circuit is required; automatic modulation depth adjustment to provide interoperability with ISO14443B; and a transparent mode to implement custom protocol, which allows users to employ their own proprietary protocols.

The part supports ISO 14443A/B, ISO 15693 (transparent mode) and NFCIP-1 (106 kbps) protocols, operating at 13.56 MHz; has closed loop modulation depth adjustment; achieves up to 848 kpbs data rate; operates from 2.4 – 3.6V over a temperature range of -40 to +125C, and is packaged in a 5 x 5 mm QFN-32 outline.
