Rigel accepts a wide input voltage range from 4.5V up to 30V, and generates a regulated output settable between 1.8V and 28V. With 100 mA current capability, it is suitable for a large number of applications where analogue circuitry or small microcontrollers or FPGAs require a stable and accurate supply voltage. It features a chip enable input putting the circuit in a stand-by mode, with a few µA typical power consumption. The device is packaged in a tiny SMD ceramic package TDFP 5 x 5.5mm, guaranteed for operation from -55°C up to +225°C.

A very large number of applications can use this regulator, well beyond the traditional “high-reliability applications”: Even at medium ambient temperature, the self-heating quickly brings the junction temperature at the limits of traditional regulators.
