MMICs from Microsemi expand RF semiconductor range

May 30, 2014 // By Graham Prophet
Microsemi has entered the market for monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) with a range of RF, microwave and millimeterwave solutions that includes wideband and low noise amplifiers and switches for a broad range of applications.

The portfolio initially comprises 16 products spanning DC-40GHz and includes wideband amplifier, low noise amplifier and switch products designed for the defence, communications, instrumentation and aerospace industries.

Microsemi has active MMIC product developments using both established gallium arsenide (GaAs) and emerging gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technologies. The company claims differentiating factors that include:

• The MMA001AA DC-20GHz wideband amplifier has positive gain slope with over 17 dB gain at 20 GHz.

• The MMS002AA single-pole, double-throw switch features approximately 45 dB of isolation from DC-20 GHz.

• The MMA016AA DC- 15 GHz amplifier has a power-selectable feature that allows customers to adjust power consumption based on the requirements of a particular application.
