Oree launches second generation of its planar LED technology

December 05, 2012 // By Christoph Hammerschmidt
Planar lighting is something only OLEDs can generate? Well, almost. Oree, Inc. has developed a technology that enables them to offer light fixtures as flat as OLEDs but based on conventional LEDs. Now the company has expanded its product offering, providing improved design and development options.

LightCell Plus, as the new generation of Oree's lighting fixtures is named to discern it from its predecessor, is geared to general lighting segments including offices, retail, hospitality and residential lighting. Planar lighting is characterized by flat and uniform illuminated surfaces designed to replace fluorescent lighting. LED planar modules offer the benefits of LEDs to end customers, such as energy savings, long operating life, and high-quality, glare-free light - plus a flat form factor. Fixture manufacturers using planar lighting benefit from needing less material to build fixtures, resulting in lower costs and environmental benefits.

Oree introduced its first planar lighting product, the "LightCell," last year. The LightCell Plus range is an expanded and improved range of modules that meets the needs of fixture manufacturers for higher lumen packages.

The LightCell Plus range of LED planar modules, like its predecessor, is based on a the combination of features such as flat and thin profile, uniform, glare-free surface, and high CRI in all color temperatures.

As a product family, the LightCell Plus range includes 2 different sizes, called Solo and Duo. Solo is implemented as a square module of 70mm x 70mm with 350lm while Duo is a rectangular module of 140mm x 70mm with twice the luminosity. Both are available in a range of CCTs (2700-6500).
