Pre-configured digital power controllers deliver 15A to SoCs

ZMDI (Dresden, Germany) has added to the range of output voltage options in its ZSPM15xx series of single–phase, true–digital pulse-width modulator (PWM) power controllers optimised for non-isolated point-of-load (POL) applications.

The new products for digital power control expand ZMDI’s ZSPM15xx family, which provides power solutions for bus voltages from 0.85V to 5.0V and maximum load currents up to 40A. ZSPM15XX family ICs are pre-configured to provide engineers with a fast time-to-market and easy-to-design solution for high-performance, digitally controlled power supplies with one of ZMDI’s integrated MOSFET power stage DrMOS products: the ZSPM9000, ZSPM9010, ZSPM9015 or ZSPM9060. ZSPM15xx controllers feature a flexible design that allows users to select the over-current protection limit, output voltage rise time and control-loop compensation via two external resistors to achieve the highest performance. This family was designed to reduce costs, design time and minimize the application footprint.

The latest introduction comprises the ZSPM1511, ZSPM1512, and ZSPM1513, turnkey power solutions for power stage outputs of 0.85V, 1.00V or 1.20V, respectively, each with maximum load current of 15A. with ultra-fast transient response and very low jitter and ripple. These are critical to ensure an FPGA, SoC or DSP functions at its optimum performance in networking and telecommunication equipment.

The device family features a high-precision output stage voltage (± 1%); ultra-fast transient response; low noise and ripple at the output; and factory pre-configuration with industry-standard voltages. They offer high power density in a 4 x 4 mm QFN24 package, operate over -40°C to +125°C, and from a single supply voltage of 5V.
