Reliable drive for appliance motors with intelligent power modules

BYD has introduced new IPM (Intelligent Power Modules) with high performance in a compact housing.

The IPMs combine optimised circuit protection and drive matched to low-loss IGBT. The modules target low-power inverter-driven applications such as air conditioners and washing machines.
With integrated under-voltage lock-out, single BOOST PFC circuit and over-current protection, system reliability is further enhanced. Each phase current of an inverter can be monitored separately. By using DBC, the modules have low thermal resistance. The modules come with a three-phase IGBT inverter bridge including control ICs for gate driving and protection and with an isolation rating of 2500 Vrms/min.
The modules are available from distributor Rutronik;
