Shielding and protecting automotive subsystems

October 03, 2016 // By Graham Prophet
Parker Chomerics has created a demonstrator unit that embodies a number of its technologies for protection and shielding for electronics subsystems, handling EMI/RFI and protecting against environmental and thermal effects. especially in an automotive environment.

The demonstration assembly, which was originally developed for an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) control unit, includes an electrically conductive plastic cover, microwave absorber material, EMI co-extruded and form-in-place gaskets, and thermal interface materials. It will be shown at the forthcoming electronica fair; Hall B1/ Booth 370, Munich, November 8-11, 2016.

The company will also show Cho-Touch Displays, which integrate touchscreens, optical bonding and high performance LCDs into a complete assembly. There will also be a preview of a new urethane antenna gasket, which provides an electrically conductive fluid and pressure sealing solution for aerospace applications; and a newly developed high performance board level EMI/RFI shielding compound.
