Signal Integrity guru puts comprehensive SI training online

July 23, 2014 // By Graham Prophet
All of the Signal Integrity training courses developed by Eric Bogatin are now available online in the “Teledyne LeCroy Signal Integrity Academy”.

Eric has presented courses widely over many years, and many of his contributions have appeared in EDN; he founded his own consulting company Be The Signal, which is now part of Teledyne Lecroy .

The structure of the on-line presentations is modular, typically in 5 – 15 minute video segments; in total there is now some 60 hours of content on-line, with more to follow. Most of the content is accessible to subscribers; you can sign up for an individual subscription for $450, or a corporate subscription which allows unlimited access by all engineers employed by a company, is $10,000. However, some of the content – certain of the video segments – are available for free viewing. They act as “samplers” for the rest of the content, but they also contain useful information, as stand-alone lessons.

The website offers "Essential Principles of Signal Integrity" as a foundation course. Videos in this eight-part series run from 1 hour, 45 minutes to 2 hours, 30 minutes. Video sections are for this class are:

The most important SI principles

Differential Pairs

Reflections and terminations

Reflections and routing topologies

Ground bounce

Signals changing return planes

Cross talk in uniform transmission lines

PDN design and EMC control.

Subscribers (or anyone, for the free-access segments) download zipped files that contain .pdf copies of slide sets and articles, simulations results, and lab exercises to accompany the video material. The image, taken from the BeTheSignal homepage , gives a flavour for just some of the other material on the Academy's menu.
