Triac-dimmable LED controller/driver for LED lighting to 25W

The AL1692 LED controller/driver is the basis of a triac-dimmable LED lamp design. Internal MOSFET versions provide a low-cost solution with compact PCB size and directly drive lamps rated from 3W to 13W. The controller-only version with an external MOSFET can support higher power applications up to 25W.

Intended for offline triac-dimmable LED lighting applications, the single-stage, buck-boost, non-isolated configuration of the AL1692 provides a high power factor, low total harmonic distortion and high triac dimmer compatibility solution to meet NEMA Solid State Lighting (SSL) standards. The IC eliminates an auxiliary winding and provides an accurate output LED current that ensures line and load regulation, while its operation in boundary conduction mode (BCM) achieves high-conversion efficiency and eases EMI design to further reduce BOM cost.

 

The AL1692 offers four internal MOSFET options with various drain-source on-resistances for either 120 VAC or 230 VAC operation, and to cover a wide range of output voltage/current applications including: 4.7Ω/700V, 4Ω/600V, 3.2Ω/500V and 2.8Ω/400V. Internal protection features, such as LED open/short circuit protection, over-temperature, under-voltage lockout, leading-edge blanking, cycle-by-cycle over-current protection, and thermal fold-back protection improve system safety and reliability.

 

The controller-only version of the AL1692 is in an SO-8 package while the MOSFET options are supplied in an SO-7 package. 10k pricing for each:
