Effective November 1, Alfred Felder (49) is to become the new Chief Executive Officer of Tridonic. He succeeds Walter Ziegler, who left the company in January.

Alfred Felder has a comprehensive knowledge in the field of opto-semiconductors and has acquired decades of management experience with prominent players in the electronics industry. In his career to date he has worked for several years in each of Japan, the US and China. Since 2003, he filled various management roles in the areas of OLED and LED technology with Osram, where as Senior Vice President Sales he is currently responsible for Osram's worldwide general lighting sales activities.

Born and raised in the South Tyrol, Felder gained his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Vienna and launched his career in 1990 as project manager in the R&D department at Siemens. He stayed with the company until 2003, holding a range of specialist and management functions, not least at Siemens central R&D department in Germany, with Infineon in Japan and in the field of ceramic materials and components in Germany. In September 2003 Alfred Felder moved to join Osram within the Siemens Group.

The CEO of parent company Zumtobel group, Harald Sommerer, welcomes the new Tridonic top executive. “We are delighted that, in Alfred Felder, we have been able to recruit a highly experienced technology expert and far-sighted manager to head up our Components business,” Sommerer said. “With his extensive knowledge of LED and OLED technology, his familiarity with the industry and his leadership skills, he will be able to play a major part in ensuring that Tridonic is fit for the future in this dynamic phase of the technology shift. I am convinced that in Alfred Felder, the new COO Gavin Brydon and CFO Werner Blum, we have an outstanding management team with whom to set Tridonic back on course for sustained profitable growth.”
