Sample-and-hold ICs
EDN Europe, 14 Oct 2009Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the DS1843 fast sample-and-hold circuit in a 2x2mm microDFN package. This device can capture signals of less than 300ns on its differential inputs and hold them at the output for up to 100µs. A low input offset voltage (~5mV) ensures accurate measurements. The IC includes a differential, high-speed, switched-capacitor input sample stage; offset-nulling circuitry; and an output buffer. Through this integration, the IC saves board space. The device is suitable for burst-by-burst RSSI measurement in GPON OLT systems in conjunction with an external sense resistor. The IC is fully specified over the -40 to +85°C extended temperature range.
