The Kontron 2.5inch Pico-ITX embedded SBC is based on the AMD embedded G-Series with fusion technology. According to the company, the KTA55/pITX SBC has a range of dedicated interfaces, making it a cost-effective entry into the development of graphics-intensive small form factor applications. The company also claims that the SBC can be used by OEMs to reduce development time for small box applications such as digital signs and sales kiosks. The processing unit of the SBC integrates one or two 64bit processor cores, a programmable graphics unit plus a PCI Express Gen 2.0 controller and a DDR3 RAM controller. The SBC can be used for all small form factor applications such as point-of-sale multimedia kiosks, dual-screen installations in infotainment systems, control rooms and machine controls. It also offers OpenCL support for image processing and digital signal processing applications. The SBC features the 1.2GHz single-core processor AMD T44R or the 1.0GHz dual-core processor AMD T44N. It integrates up to 4Gbyte RAM on a DDR3 small outline dual in-line memory module and allows OEMs to scale the system configuration. The SBC has a 24bit dual channel LVDS interface and the backlight output, enabling OEMs to implement dual-monitor applications. In addition, the integrated unified video decoder minimises the CPU load in the decoding of H.264, VC-1, moving picture experts group, windows media video, and DivX HD videos. According to the company, the SBC has an integrated high definition audio, which provides good audio output and enables energy-efficient video applications. The SBC has an integrated 10, 100, and 1000 Ethernet port that offers high compatibility and bandwidth for networking applications. Storage media can also be integrated over three 6Gbit/s SATA connections.
