SuperSpeed USB 3.0 development solutions
EDN Europe, 02 Dec 2010
LeCroy and Evatronix SA have announced the signing of a partnership agreement that aims towards a faster market adoption of the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 technology by cooperation on mutual product development and USB market investigation. The LeCroy USB 3.0 test suite includes the SDA 813Zi-A oscilloscope for physical layer transmitter verification, compliance and debug; the protocol-enabled receiver and transmitter tolerance tester, PeRT3, for receiver testing; the SPARQ Signal Integrity Network Analyzer for S-parameter critical characterization and TDR measurements; and the USB 3.0 protocol analyzer exerciser platform, the Voyager verification system, to address the protocol layer.

LeCroy's PeRT3 is a protocol-aware receiver tester that integrates receiver test with protocol-awareness. It provides the ability to automate testing through active control of the device under test. It is also able to easily manage through protocol issues such as SKP symbols which can interrupt testing. Together with LeCroy’s WaveMaster 813Zi-A oscilloscope, QPHYUSB3-Tx-Rx automation compliance test software, and other accessories, it performs complete physical layer compliance tests faster than alternate solutions that are not protocol-aware. The Voyager protocol analyzer exerciser system provides a full-function analyzer, capable of recording and analyzing traffic between both USB 2.0 or 3.0 devices. The integrated exerciser can emulate USB 3.0 device behaviors to allow functional, reliability, and performance testing.Evatronix USB Design-In product suite is a complete solution for any system-on-chip that implements the USB connection, claims the company. Designers can choose from single function controllers through dual role On-The-Go devices to USB application platforms. The USB devices are accompanied by complementary software support and embraced by PHY interoperability programs. Hardware development environment enables quick start with application design, while USB customisation services and a variety of reference designs facilitate rapid app development.
