Surface mount rotary position sensors provide feedback sensor

Murata has announced the SV03 series of low profile surface mount rotary position sensors. The sensors measure 11x12x2.1mm and weighing 0.4g, and are suitable for consumer electronics appliance and automotive applications. By detecting the angle of rotation of a switch the sensors provide a rotary switch and feedback sensor. An application of the sensors is as an airflow adjustment switch within a domestic air conditioning unit. The sensors suit long service life applications and is rated at up to 300,000 cycles. They also claimed to have a high precision, providing rotational measurement within ±2% across the whole 333.3° of rotation. The sensors operate from -40 to +125°C and feature an operating voltage of 5V DC within ±0.5V. An adjustment scale is displayed on the sensor surface to facilitate mounting when assembly of the end-product takes place, claims the company.
