Synchronous DC-DC controllers

Added to the Hyper Speed Control family of synchronous DC-DC controllers, is the MIC2166, a wide input voltage range, high performance, adaptive on-time DC-DC controller capable of driving up to 25A of load current. Micrel included an internal VDD regulator that enables single-supply operation: the device’s architecture reduces the required output capacitance and allows for excellent transient response, while making high delta-V operation (VIN=28V, VOUT=0.8V) possible.The MIC2166 operates at 600 kHz switching frequency, operates over a supply range of 4.5V to 28V and provides up to 25A of output current. The device achieves up to 95% efficiency, and is stable with any output capacitor (zero to high ESR). The MIC2166 is available in a 10-pin ePad MSOP package and costs $0.93 (1000).
