Texas Instruments acquires Irish PSU company

Buys Commergy Technologies for energy-saving technology

Texas Instruments has acquired Commergy Technologies, a power supply reference design provider that specialies in energy-efficient and compact architectures. TI says the acquisition will benefit improving energy efficiency, especially in areas of AC adapters and high-power-density computing and server systems. Commergy is based in Cork, Ireland, and designs standard and customised reference designs for applications in the notebook, PC, server and communications markets. The company develops very high-efficiency power supply solutions, such as those for notebook adapters, that meet and exceed the latest ENERGY STAR and Climate Savers Computing Initiative recommendations for PCs. The company has expertise in planar magnetics, power factor correction (PFC), power topology design, thermal management, EMC design and high-power density design.
