Media Release August 19, 2009, PR 16/2009 Time for electronics designers to get serious about programmable devices Altium talks at the 19th International Conference on Field Programmable Logic and Applications SYDNEY, Australia – August 19, 2009 – Altium will be challenging electronics designers to look at news ways of using programmable devices at the centre of their designs at the 19th International Conference on Field Programmable Logic and Applications. Altium is presenting the challenge in a talk - ‘System on an FPGA in a Unified Design Environment’ - at the conference being held in Prague, Czech Republic, August 31 – September 1, 2009. The conference, the largest of its kind, brings together researchers and industry leaders to discuss the application and future of FPGAs. Altium has been invited, as a sponsor of the event, to present the case on why engineers should design FPGAs in one design domain. Joerg Kaleita, Technical Account Manager and Volker Brandstetter, Field Application Engineer at Altium, will be speaking at the event. “We will ask electronics designers one simple question: ‘What if you could attack the design process, across schematic capture, board layout and FPGA design in one design domain?’”, said Joerg Kaleita. “Electronics designers are no longer specialists in a particular domain. Instead, they develop entire systems. The problem is that many engineers use several different applications to achieve this, which stifles innovation and restricts the reasons for using FPGAs in the first place – their inherent reprogrammability and flexibility. But it is possible.” Altium will also preview the newest addition to the NanoBoard family, the NanoBoard 3000 smart FGPA development board. Winners of the ‘best paper in show’ will be awarded with the new NanoBoard 3000 smart development board For more information on the event and Altium’s talk visit: http://fpl2009.org/index.php or http://fpl2009.org/index.php?p=industrials Information on Altium Designer, the latest new features, and those added over the past 12 months, is on Altium’s web site.
