Training course: DC/DC converters

2-day programme comprises converter theory and applications

EDN Europe, 04 May 2007

4th May 2007 - “Introduction to DC-DC Converters” is a 2-day course to be held at the Institute for System-Level Integration (iSLI) near Edinburgh, Scotland on 18th and 19th June 2007. The presenter is Dr. Richard Redl, of ELFI S.A., Switzerland. Aimed at circuit and system design engineers and managers with either little or no background in DC-DC converters for power management or in need of refreshing their knowledge about the topic, the course is a comprehensive introduction to DC-DC converters, with emphasis on power management applications.
In the first day, topics are the basics of DC-DC converters, fundamentals of magnetic components, and more complex converter configurations. The second day covers control, modelling and feedback loop design, and application considerations including protection. Dr Redl is a consultant and author who specialises in DC-DC converters, off-line switching power supplies, power-factor correctors, electronic ballasts, electromagnetic compatibility, and power supply control IC architectures.
