Linear Technology has introduced the LTC2393-16, a 16bit SAR ADC that achieves 94dB SNR at sample rates up to 1Msamples/s with no cycle latency. Operating from a single 5V supply and supporting a wide ±4.096V input range, the device is suitable for many general purpose designs that require maximum signal swings to overcome background noise levels in industrial environments. The device features improved AC performance, achieving 94dB SNR and 105dB THD. The DC specifications include ±2LSB INL (maximum) and 16 bits no missing codes resolution. The device also features a temperature-compensated internal reference with a production-tested 0.1% initial accuracy and 20ppm/°C (maximum) temperature coefficient over the automotive and industrial temperature ranges. The device dissipates 140mW at 1Msamples/s and features a shutdown mode that reduces power dissipation to 175µW when not converting. True no latency operation enables accurate one shot measurements even after lengthy idle periods with no minimum sample rate required. The device supports 1Msamples/s sample rates through both serial and parallel interfaces at I/O voltages from 1.8 to 5V.
